Default Z3 m as track car

Hi guys

I was thinking of picking up a Z3 M for a track car. It would still street legal and not total stripped out.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks!

I just picked up a clownshoe August of last year 1999 S52 w/VF Supercharger and only 54k miles when I bought it . Love the car... It is an absolute blast to drive.

Just note you will want to reinforce the rear diff mounting point. Google search or check out bimmerforums and search for Randy Forbes... his kit is the best from my research and understanding.

Im actually in the process of installing coils as well as full set of bushings for the entire car cant wait to try it out when complete. That said... for the price there are better cars chassis wise that can be had for the track, but finding one thats better as far as pure enjoyment would be hard to come by... IMO I like driving it more than my M3, but the M3 is faster

Thanks for the response,

I'm aware of the subframe issue. I had a 1999 M Coupe for a few years and ended up selling it for an Audi S4(huge mistake). Anyways, my budget is pretty tight I only have about 10-12. Since it will be a track car the subframe is a must. I've heard the cost is around 3 grand for the install, is that a good ballpark figure?

Have any pictures? I really need it to be street legal.

Perusing old posts...interesting on z3M vs e46.

How about the z3M vs. e36 that's been well maintained/modded (susp, bushings, brakes, stage 2 TMS) for track and weekend driver?

Seems maybe more in line with the budget discussed here too ($<15-18k).
