Question 1989 M3 Wagon

I am in the US Army stationed in Hanau, Germany. The last 10 cars that I have owned were Mustangs so I know very little about BMW's. Germany is pissed at the United States and there are anti-American rallies everywhere. I feel unsafe in my 02 GT Mustang so i've decided to purchase a BMW. The car in question is a 1989 M3 Wagon. It has M Series badging on the hood, rear hatch, wheels, and shifter. It also has rear disc brakes, 16" BBS style wheels and no emmissions equipment. This is a German specification car. How do I tell if this is the real deal or a clone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

nicholspoitra, get the vin # and you should be able to tell by looking on the inside of the driver's door. There should be a identification plate that would say the type of car. If not, take the vin and contact a BMW retailer to determine whether or not it is in fact an M3 wagon. I personally have never seen nor heard of an e30 M3 wagon, and if I did come across one, I would be sure to check it out also
