Default ďFreeĒ M3 Build

I'm not really sure where to begin with this, but long story short, I was given a 98 Cosmos Black E36 M3 from my uncle. The car right now is in pretty rough shape and needs a lot of exterior and interior TLC. Mechanically, the engine runs well and the clutch and transmission feel good. Although, the shifter itself has an abundance amount of play. Power steering is completely gone due to a leak, and the catalytic converters are shot. The car has 188,850 miles on it. I'm new to BMW and I've been doing as much research as I can on the forums, so all this helps lol. It is quite overwhelming though... I was not expecting to be the sudden owner of an E36 M3! I'm going to be documenting as much as possible on the build Glad to be a part of the community! Here are some rushed iPhone photos I took

<weeps a little bit>

Good looking project, body looks fairly straight, interior not so much. Can't complain with free!

It'll cost a lot to bring the inside up to spec but it's a great base for a semi-track car!

Where in NC did the car come from?

That old Suburban looks pretty cool. What are the plans for it?

I'm not sure that is a genuine BMW dog. Probably aftermarket and therefore not allowed to criticize.

The body is really straight which Iím happy about! Iím not too worried about the interior, luckily my Dad used to redo the upholstery on classic Rolls Royce and Bentleyís (not limited to) but I will have to spend a significant amount ):

Iím not too sure to be honest. My uncle (a Marine) had taken it with him when he was based in NC. Heís back in CA now and he had the car transported from NC to CA. The car was loved, but it was hard for him to give it the attention that he wanted to with him relocating often.

Itís a Ď71 3 door! Thatís actually a donor car for another orange Ď71 3 door we have in the shop!

Yeah, I thought about it. Havenít ruled it out yet but I like challenges, and thatís what I see here with this M3! Definetly gonna be tough but more rewarding at the end. Plus we have a lot of amazing canyon roads here in SoCal Iíd like to rip around
