I like how you color-coded the B+ terminal cover.

Toss me in there as well, I had one while stationed in Germany back in 01 time frame. Love the sound of VR6 but always think they should have mounted it longitudinally and made car a proper AWD or used the Golf Synchro or Rallye set up in the Corrado. Heck they used it in the Passat and one guy in Vermont built a AWD Corrado using the B3 Passat underpinnings.

OP That's not an S42 is it? What relationship is that toward your build?

Ah, the standard VAC experience. Being local to them, I get to see it all the time. They are nothing, if not consistent.

Nice build!

Sweet! Looks like a great build!

I also came from the VW world (8 former VW's) and am a former Corrado G60 owner.

Awesome build a great recovery from the fire damage. I too had a bad VAC experience (seriously how is this company still alive???). I'm in the middle of S54 swap right now (should be starting the engine this weekend!!!!!) but the build thread is on "the other" E36 forum site engine conversions section

I like how you also merged the S54 harness to the E36 harness box. I'm in the middle of getting all this sorted right now but it looks soooo much better than having the E46 parts which don't fit anywhere.

Awesome - only things to add is I get IAT’s of 172 degrees plus with my filter where yours is, def get some cooler air to the motor. 2 put a rush on that carbon airbox haha it’ll be the cherry on top.

Thank you all! I like our little Corrado to E36 club lol.

So as far as the intake goes, I actually have a conforti heat shield from the S52 also. Basically I don't want to install a temporary box and scratch or scuff my snazzy paint work if I am going to be redoing it. I won't be doing any track days until spring time, so I have all this time to take car of it. Although, the CSL airbox without proper ducting is about as bad as this considering it just sucks up hot air from the same location. Its definitely on the "take care of" list, along with the water meth system that I had in here before (the system is still in place). The water/meth was actually done via MS41 control, which was cool. I am trying to figure out if there is a table in the MSS54 for the Suction Jet Pump that I may re-purpose?

And the Battery + is color matched, headlight housings are color matched, door handles. I also use purple zip ties in a lot of places haha.

ClutchKickChris, I have seen your thread! I did a lot of research on other swaps to figure out how I want to approach things. Putting all the wiring inside the E36 looming (to me) is the only way to go with it. Towards the end of it when the real estate was running thin inside the covers it began to feel like trying to shove 30 clowns into an Isetta lol. But the end result is fantastic. Since my car was an auto, I do plan on using the transmission light as a low oil indicator; still need to get/make a yellow oil insert for the cluster.

And so far VAC has not responded and I get the "You need to speak to so and so about it." Its starting to feel like the "Eat Dicks" warranty, but I'll call again and hopefully they at least refund me for the valve spring kit as it wasn't cheap either.

The silver E36 race car does have the S42! It is a proper 320i SuperTouring from Europe and was built by McLaren. It is unreal to look through as it shares absolutely no parts with a street car aside some body panels. Even the glass is Lexan with proper Securit BMW brand logos and the little dots around the perimeter. I think one day I'd like to build a tribute car with the modern N20 engine instead.

Dude! I just realized you are the guy I bought the 6-speed flywheel and shifter from about 5 years ago! That was basically the first mod to the car, pull the auto trans out and 6-speed it. Ran that flywheel until about a year ago, went with a chromolly one as the S52 kept rattling itself apart at the track.

Awesome build, and very nice touch on the S54 emissions label! Where did you get that? Asking because reasons...
