The button is broken where the spring goes in, easy to repair, did that on my M3 5 years ago, quite common problem. Done in 5 minutes

Guys,

Unfortunately, I ordered the part #64228183040 and it doesn't fit in my current glove box housing. The locking mechanism is different and it will not fit on the bottom. Anyone else have this issue?

Haywood.

What are we looking at? The sliding lock box in your left image is very early E36 (till 1993). The part number you ordered is not for that glovebox. If that’s what you received ordering that part number take it back to BMW, they messed up.

This is pn: 64228183040

If your car came with the sliding lock style, someone incorrectly equipped your car. You will also need the correct carrier for the vent section you ordered. I encourage you to put the correct glovebox in your 97.
