It is. You really need to fit a tool between plug and tunnel wall and try to lever it in. I think I lost two finger nails trying to remove.

Yeh thats the approach we are taking. Can get the bottom half seated. Top half isnt cooperating. The first time the tranny was on the ground and made it pretty damn easy. Ugh. I just put a new clutch in... got everything buttoned up and got a error code 59. Clutch actuation dynamics. As soon as I turned the key.. all connectors are hooked up... I cant get it to go in gear... so confused

Apparently there are atleast 3..*one for each pair of gears.. 1-2, 3-4, 5-6*. I just did the one I've read that breaks..
I replaced #6 (23311228397)
I've read the other's have done all of them....

I replaced all of them while the transmission was out. Got them from bmwpartssource.com cheaper than ecs. Just got the part numbers from realoem.com

Do you guys think that by having this mis aligned would cause me to have a Clutch Actuation Dynamics Error 59?

Was misalignment the issue? Reviving an old thread because I am about to do springs on my car.

Default Compression spring SMG dropping out of gear DIY

UPDATE: I went straight to the spring that holds the pin (#6 on the diagram above) and found the spring broken in 3 places, I never been so happy to find a part of my car broken. I changed the pin and spring, used the same plug and now it runs like a champ. I still have the used GPS with 60k on it if any one is interested in buying it.

My issue is that my ///M keeps skipping 3rd gear only. Also takes a few seconds to get into 2nd. I'm trying the GPS first then go for the springs second. 4th and 5th are fine. Have not tried going into 6th yet.

For those that have done this, which springs did you replace specifically by part number (23311228393, 23111222720, 23317511337, and 23311228405)? Thanks in advance!
Hey DrPaul can you confirm which springs you replaced? Did you replace all of them?

Can someone confirm this other diagram from realoem? It looks different than the one posted by DrPaul...

Based on this diagram, I thought I want to replace #6 and #7 but on DrPaul's diagram, the part numbers are different?

Thanks
