Default Differential and Transmission Fluids

I've gathered that Pentosin MTF2 is discontinued and read a number of pages of the massive thread that followed. I found old threads warning against Royal Purple, so not buying that either, but....

Should I buy this:
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...erential-oils/

or

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-febi-par...220309031~feb/

If I buy Febi, what diff fluid should I buy?

thanks.

Honestly, I've only seen an old thread about not using diff fluid. I haven't seen anything on the royal purple trans fluid.

Don't use ATF in your transmission. If you want to use redline, use their MTL, which is their recommendation. The Febi fluid could be fine, but no one here has tried it. Since pentosin mtf2 is discontinued but MTF-LT-2 is still available, it seems to rule out pentosin as the supplier. Who knows, maybe it's Febi.

FYI, you can get MTF-LT-2 from BMW, just not from ecs tuning or tms. I just picked up some from the local dealer.

ecs tuning has the proper OE diff fluid with the friction modifier.

I was looking at the Febi 75w80, but it's a GL-5 (rear end spec, not tranny - tranny is GL4).

Febi does make a straight 75w GL4 that I'm running 50/50 with a bottle of Pentosin MTF-2 and it feels good just like stock:

I've had enough meh experiences with Redline that I will probably be going the Ravenol route. It's a GL4 in the correct weight that is made in Germany. Checks enough boxes there that I'm willing to give it a shot.

Why, has Castrol been doing something wrong?
