Default Graffiti M3 - 56K No Way

I was playing around with my camera and decided to leave it on all auto, little did I know it set everything to landscape mode...So the focus on the background is more emphasized as the foreground items like..the car. haha. I edited them a bit as they came out kinda blurry but I thought overall they came out well. I'll have to retake some with the proper settings. I'm pretty camera illiterate. This was with a Sony Cybershot DSC-HX5

Second set is by an abandoned and decayed hotel from 1912.

Two things I love, m3's and graffiti. Thanks for sharing, cool pics!

Just some constructive criticism: I really like the locations you chose, but you should shoot at a different time of the day. That bright sunlight gives off way too many reflections. You should go back there at around sunset and play with the angles a bit. But overall the pics look good. Also, avoid having unnecessary objects in your pictures (like that pole or the supporting cable). And try to shoot from or below the belt line of the car, usually 3/4 view is the money shot (front or rear). You wanna try to show something that you won't normally see with your eyes, so avoid the eye level(standing up) shots.

A few more things. The issue with direct(overhead) sunlight is that it distorts your pictures. As you can see, you have some shots which are underexposed (too dark) in some areas of the car, or overexposed(too bright). You want to try to even that out so that the viewer can see every detail of the car. By shooting during sunset or sunrise, it eliminates all those issues. Oh and always have the light behind you so that you don't get any glare.

That makes a lot of sense! Thank you for that. I never thought about the belt line of sight, it totally makes sense taking pics at angles people are not used to! I'm going to be redoing the pics soon and I will try everything you said!

Yeah, good luck. Also a good idea is to try to replicate some professional shots that you like. Just browse this forum or look on other cars sites for inspiration. And don't worry about not having an SLR, you can get some great shots with a point and shoot. If you can get a tripod, even better.

Found a great website for car photography, I'm reading up on it at the moment.
