i saw just saw the thread from which you bought that. i really want one of those but can't fathom paying the premium for such a "common" part on a european bmw. however, i've recently taken a shine to the e46 wheel, the one with one button. if i can't find one i'll just wait until i go back to italy and hit the scrap yard and mail myself a m-tech 3 one from a heap.

besides the e46 one has the thumb rests and is smaller in diameter. i believe 370 mm vs. 385 mm.

If you want the one I just bought, you can probably ask him, like Brett said.
errr...I seem to recall something along the lines of "...hawtsauce but I've already got the 3 spoke"

the same day the first thread came out my check had just cleared with Ian for my tckline s/a kit but now...well email already sent to ebay seller!

hard to believe that long assed list I had 2 years ago is now down to just cai, m50 and software, but then that just means I need to start a new list

Such a premium? This steering wheel is list price $1020, but $816 from Tischer BMW, which gives a 20-35% discount on all parts. Not to mention that this one is custom wrapped in half perforated leather. And on top of that, it was never offered in the US.

And also, the E46 wheel will not be compatible with your car, if you want your airbag to work.

Whatever. I like the wheel, that's why I bought it.

I like this one more, especially since it has perforated leather. Is there a problem?

I think some people don't understand why I'd "downgrade" from a US 3-spoke, but that's not right. The wheel you got was undeniably sexy, but I still prefer the look of this one, with the smaller airbag. I think the US one is a bit...bulky. Albeit, it's FAR better than the 4-spoke, which is a boatload of ugly bulkiness.

These wheels, especially the perforated leather ones, are just gorgeous, and make a big difference in the interior.

Of course, an E46 wheel is sexy, but I refuse to put in a steering wheel with a non-functional airbag into my car.

I started this thread for people to show their steering wheels and such, not to argue about whether I should have bought this one or not. It's kind of annoying.

I bet the guy who wraps these in Germany would be willing to work out some sort of promotion for us, if we got enough signatures and e-mailed him, etc.

i agree, while my 95 wheel is a hot mess i don't think the bumper car wheel you had was much if any improvement. i too don't want a non-functioning air bag and would only opt for the e46 wheel if the air bag (one of them, aren't they two-stage?) worked and it didn't have a barrage of buttons i don't need or want. i believe there is a wheel with just a cruise button? seen here .

anyway relax, i didn't mean to agitate you as i too want your wheel, perforated wrap and all, i was just dropping my $.02.
