Would have to program it for your car and I think have to change units possibly. Not plug and play but same dme.

It'd be no different than using any other used DME.

Thanks for the explanation, I've read this and other threads but still feel like a total noob when it comes to the CSL airbox install

I know this post is four years old -- seems like these may have gone back into production? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...617833498~oee/

Has anyone ordered one of these and received it? I placed an order so we'll see if it goes through. I'm in the Karbonius airbox group buy and will try to remove their CF snorkel from my order if I can source the legit flap. I read on here that people were paying $900 for the OE flap a few years back so $420 isn't bad ... assuming they send it!

Updated the bit on the alternator signal for 2004+ cars

Quote:
Alternator signal (March 2004+ Cars)
Option 1: Software mod
  • Download Modified Program (remove the ".pdf" from the filename to extract the archive)
  • Flash the modified program that's appropriate for your setup
    • If you're using the non-CSL bootloader, the "2113230401" file is the appropriate one
  • Modify your tune by writing "01 05 0A" at 0x5968
    • A parameter section is not included in those binary files. Modify whatever CSL tune you were going to use or already have
  • Using NCS Expert, make sure "GENERATOR_UEBER_CAN" is set to aktiv (should already be aktiv if your car is a March 2004+ car)

Option 2: Wiring mod
  • Requirements:
    • 12527510674 x 2 (Cluster and DME pins)
    • 22 AWG wire
  • Pinout: Black Connector of Instrument Cluster Pin 2 -> X60004 Pin 1
  • Coding: Set “GENERATOR_UEBER_CAN” to nicht_aktiv
Thread discussing the modification here: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=602252

As far as which method is "better" - if you trust my software skills, either method should be safe.

Iím in the middle of a CSL conversion and had a quest about the air rail.

Is the only difference between the stock and CSL air rails the inclusion of the MAP sensor on the CSL? Anything else to note?

I just ordered Kassel Performance's MAP kit, lets you use the stock fuel rail. Haven't read much about it so I know I'm taking a risk, but hopefully works out OK:

Yes, I ordered from ECS a few weeks back and have the OEM one sitting in my living room currently.

That looks like a pretty clever solution.

Looking forward to hear about that kit, I know people were also just using the GM map sensor installed between the vacuum line.

I just finished soldering on the new caps and H bridge on my DME, the H bridge is tricky!
