Default Purge Control Valve? P0444? DIY?

I had code P0444 come up and its the purge control valve leaking. Its probably stuck open. I found a DIY on youtube but its on a 3 series. On the 3 series its under the airbox. Is it in the same place on the M3? I've look but can't really tell if it's there or not? Also do I need to reset the light if I replace it? I don't have a OBDII. Will it reset automatically? Maybe i'll go to pep boys or something. Thanks heres the vidd.

I'd go to realoem.com to confirm the location and part. Also understand that with our airbox and intake, it could be even tighter getting in there, even if it's in the same place.
Lastly, I'd make sure I got codes read on a reader that does all BMW codes, not just OBDii codes, as you might get some more specific info, or other codes that help pinpoint the problem. Did you notice they guy at end of vid says, "hope this is what it is or I spent $300 throwing parts at it?" If it WAS a BMW specific reader, great, if not, I'd spent the $100 to get that done.
I recently went through some problems on my wifes VW. Same deal, got one OBDII code out of it, but VW VAGCOM gave other codes.

Aw man if I saw your post earlier I would have taken pics. Just finished the job. Its not in the exact same place as a 3 series but 2 inches further back. Clips and hoses were annoying but my buddy helped me by pulling while I fiddled with the clips. Took about an hour but the hardest part was the clips that connected to the valve. Put everything back and now no SES and shes running smooth

Nice!
So pretty straight forward by removing only the airbox?

Yeah what I did was:
1. Remove air scoop
2.Remove airbox
3. Remove that little extra tubing from the back of the airbox that connects into the engine. (More room = easier)
4. Pull off the purge valve from the "hook" its on (you will see it at this point behind the dipstick)
5. Disconnect all connection to it (hardest one is the one with the clip. Push the clip all the way down and pull. ps hardest part)
6. Put in new valve and connect all hoses back+electric connection
7. Reverse order and install airbox back
8. Crack open a cold one cuz' you done!

Good luck man PM me if you need help
