Sedans..
BMW basicly threw a sedan into the 97'/98' production years to qualify for some kinda rule that a car had to be "production" based to meet entry requirements for that class.
BTW in that era M3s were sweeping championships.
edit: Other teams were PO that BMW was trying to enter the champion M3 into touring class racing so... bam! 4 doors happy guys?

I think the majority of factory racing is now done with a 320i, right? I know for a fact that the majority of BMW's being used to actually race professionally are sedans and not M3's - just depends on the class.

320i memories had the 1st edition in the 80's did some Tii swapin'... smog monster. another story.
I remember it was somthin' about factory racing, err production unit #s sh*t.
