Soooo, heard back from Michael, and he said that YES...plans are still in place to bring equipment in-house to produce cf tubes. Unfortunately, he couldn't give me any idea of a timeline. He says that he's pursuing it w/gusto, but ultimately (I guess) it's up to corporate to push things forward. I'll update again if I have any concrete info...

I'll shoot an email over to Michael...last conversation that I had w/him about 1 mo ago he still indicated that nothing had been done. Despite my enthusiasm for this project, I've more or less given up hope that this will happen anytime soon at this point...but like I said, I'll send him an email an post his response-thanx everyone!

I appreciate you following up with Michael. If it happens it happens. If not...well maybe someone else will take advantage of the a bunch of folks willing to fork down $$$ for quality part.

Stan, never give up hope! I can't live in a world where there is only one Carbon Fiber Highlander. There can't be only one, not for this community.

So I'm going to Taiwan for two weeks in August. I saw that J-Fiber video and checked out their site and there will be close to my in-laws house.

http://www.j-fiber.com.tw/auto_page....=qu6upmkswa6qs

Here is a link to their E46 SMG M3 driveshaft. The video made it seem as if they got their fiber from Toray Japan, but I'm concerned about the flanges. Does this company use the crap Chinese flanges or the YCW Taiwanese ones that actually work?

It's funny because in the 'Vaping' community there was a company building a product called the Pulse 80W. They outsourced their chip manufacturing as well as their entire design to a Chinese company. This Chinese company slow walked the entire processes, always pushing the ship date further and further out. Then AT A TRADE SHOW again, the owner saw that this manufacturer had a booth and out of the blue they were suddenly producing their own product which was a direct copy of the one they were tasked with making for someone else. Really a gut punch. You still need to be careful in Taiwan with business, maybe even more careful than you have to be in the U.S., but Taiwanese business culture is much more aligned ethically with how we do things here compared to The People's Republic. I'm still very hopeful that this can happen, there are at least 40+ people who would throw down some cash RIGHT NOW for this.

Hey, what's up man^^^!? Ya, lol @ the "Highlander" reference, but I'm sure that this CF DS is probably being produced by someone else right now...maybe even J-Fiber? The flanges look suspiciously similar to the YCW flanges, soooo...who the hell knows who is producing what flanges??? And your vape story sounds eerily similar to what allegedly happened to YCW as well...IDK man, just waiting to hear back from Michael at this point and then I'll post back up!

If you end up stopping by J-Fiber, post back up with your visit crib notes.

Just messaged my Taiwanese car buddy. He is down to take me to J-Fiber! I'll need him to translate but I will do my full detective work and see what the story is. Really hoping these flanges are legit or at least I can be convinced that they wont vibrate. If I can get some pics then I will be sure to snap them. Oh man, the lengths we go to for these cars. Can't wait.
