I managed to get the nut off.

I haven't tapped the bolt yet in fear of messing something up, plus the lack of room doesn't warrant a swing of a hammer, or a dead blow. I need to see if I can lower the tranny down about 2 more inches (already removed the skid plate, fan housing, motor mount nuts, cabin air filter area)

To get the tranny to come down more you'll need to "jack up" the front of the motor... use a piece of 2x4 in between so nothing gets damaged.
