you just know the guy who actually buys this car is also custom printing a t shirt with "6:52.01" in bold on the front. No longer will mr. trackday cappuccino rule the local C&C with his GT3RS.

what are you talking about? VLN has been running 10 races/year there since 1977 (a most excellent year BTW), not including 24hr.

I think there are other series that race there too.

Eh I don't know. Maybe I'm not close enough to European racing to know exactly how many series/conferences use that track as a dedicated part of their season. And I'm not trying to say it's just an occasional stop, but just seems like there's so much more commercial interest in hitting these numbers today that lap times may just be dropping because people are that much more practiced on every inch of it.

It may be completely wrong - I just think it would be interesting to look at the data.

Another way to put it - take the same driver that is setting record factory/production lap times today, and put them back into the same car with the same tires in similar conditions that they ran on a decade ago, are they faster today?
