Thank you for your time to create this thread and share your information I flashed my C35 light control module with Your C36 dump and now I have tripple blinkers

Tried with UPA-USB, Xprog programmers, but no success, then I tried with my R270 and everything went smooth .

So big update:

I found some much more convenient solder points. They're pretty large - very easy to solder to even if you don't have a very steady hand.

Legend:
Red = Vcc (+5v)
Brown = Vss (ground)
Yellow = Reset
Purple = BKGD
Green = XCLKS (doesn't appear to be necessary, but some of the programmer wiring diagrams show it)

Additionally, I discovered the E85 Z4, which shares LSZs with the E46, actually got one newer software version that was never rolled out to the E46. The label shows SW 4.7 instead of 4.5.

So I got my hands on one. Boards are near identical. Best as I could tell, the only differences come down to the solder mask, missing autoleveling components, the connector for the actual switch, and an extra resistor on the back of the board.

I dumped the software and confirmed that it is indeed different from SW4.5. Flashed it to one of my E46 LSZs. Worked great. BMW never issued a new coding index, but there is one new function. If you set SL_AUS_BEI_FA_TUER_AUF to aktiv, you can keep the headlight switch in the "on" position and the parking lights will no longer stay on when you turn off the car and open the door. On a SW 4.5 LSZ, that function doesn't do anything even though you could set it to aktiv. See below video for a demonstration:

Attached a zip file with the binary (in both the R270 and Xprog formats) and a compatible virgin EEPROM to this post (remove the ".pdf" from the filename). Flash it, recode everything with NCS Expert, and you should be good to go.

This file should be flashable to LSZs SW 3.6 and newer.

If you have an LSZ 3.56, if you replace the CPU with this one, you should be able to flash it with the 4.7 software using the solder points above. Be careful, since the solder pads are very easy to damage - if you don't have experience soldering SMT stuff, you're better off finding a 3.6 or newer unit.

Great work Terra.

Is there any advantage to having an R270 programmer over an Xprog?

For this task specifically? No. For other tasks like m35080 chips, the R270 is capable of erasing the newer ones that Xprog can't.

For the LSZs Xprog is actually a little easier, since R270 wants you to solder the twisted pair to the clock crystal to bypass security. BMW didn't secure the LSZs so it shouldn't be necessary, but it seems the R270 assumes it's always secured (probably because it's more meant for things like EWS and CAS modules)

This is awesome I've had to flash two 3.6 lcms with a programer. This will make it a lot easier to attach wires.
