Default Mishimoto fan no longer triggering

My E46 came w a mishimoto e-fan kit installed by the previous owner, using the temp sensor to trigger. It would trigger on fine and even run for a bit after the car was off and did a good job keeping the temp steady at middle. But lately I've been suspecting it hasnt been working as i havent heard it run after turning off the car like before, and today the water temp went up in traffic.

Im trying to figure why its no longer triggering on its own? The fuse is good, and testing by jumping the green wire manual override got the fan to kick on. Any help is appreciated thanks!

After checking that it's getting power and a good ground, you should probably ask Mishimoto

mine did the same thing. check the fuse first to make sure it hasnt popped. after that check the wiring. after weeks of trying to figure it out, it ended up being a short in the wiring. contacted mishimoto and they sent me a replacement.

Yeah fuse is fine and i was able to get it to kick on with the manual override green wire. Where was the short exactly? And which wire? How do i check for shorts in the wiring? Sorry wiring and electrical are not my strong suit, so i need basic explanation lol, thanks

Mine failed at the push-in temp. sensor, one of the wires broke at the sensor. When Mishimoto sent a replacement sensor some 3 weeks later I put a piece of heat shrink tube on the sensor wires where they exit the sensor. Mishimoto required photos to document the failure and took a few weeks to evaluate them (for five dollar sensor). I also looked at the main wiring connector and one of the wires popped right out (when I barely pulled on it ). Whomever is building their wiring harness is an amateur. After seeing the low quality of the wiring and the 3 week downtime of my car I am done with mishimoto products.

check the wiring from the fan to the fan relay. i have a wire showing in my first one that shorted out the fan motor. if you see any bubbling in the wiring then it is shorted. to test the wires you can use a volt meter and test the ends to see if there is a short. i had to replace my fan twice due to the wires being shorted out. original was just faulty. the second was cut from a mechanic and i was never told about it.

Make sure the temp sensor didn’t crap out. Get the car up to temp and check for continuity to a ground.

you could wire in a replacement switch, they aren't too expensive and they are adjustable for temp as well.

Look at the connectors to the fuse holder. They like to get loose, as they are a cheap crimp connection. Also, the fuse connector is terrible as well. This is a good solution to run the fan, but horribly made. I emailed mishmoto about my failure, and never got a response back.
