Default 2019 Audi A7 55 TSFI Quattro

Needs more letters and numbers. Love their naming convention.

Following a lengthy teaser campaign, Audi has taken the wraps off the new A7 Sportback.

Drawing inspiration from the prologue concept, the A7 adopts a stylish and upscale design with a wide Singleframe grille that is flanked by distinctive headlights and sporty air intakes. The sporty styling continues further back as the car has been equipped with a sculpted hood, a bold character line, and a flowing roof.

The rear of the car is "tapered like that of a yacht" and features an integrated spoiler automatically extends at 120 km/h (74 mph). Designers also installed a full-length light strip which consists of 13 vertical segments that can play various light animations.

Have they switched to a 3 cylinder turbo/supercharger combo plus plug in hybrid motor yet?

That's the only explanation for that name.

This new design language is terrible, every refresh is worse than the car it replaces.

I love the current S7/RS7. This looks like a Korean knockoff.

Phew! Audi’s Confusing New Naming Scheme Won’t Be Used in U.S.

Audi’s new powertrain naming scheme won’t be applied to the brand’s U.S. models, according to Audi spokespeople.

Less than two months ago, the German brand announced that the all-new 2019 Audi A8 will introduce a new powertrain naming scheme for the brand. The automaker will trade in the familiar displacement-based scheme used today—such as 2.0T and 3.0T—for a two-digit number ranging from 30 to 70 in increments of five. The numbers applied to each new Audi model will reflect the powertrain’s power output.

Still, the two digits are largely arbitrary and represent a power range, not a specific output figure. For example, Audis marked 30 will produce between 109 and 129 horsepower, while those bearing a 45 badge make between 227 and 248 horsepower.

Confused yet?

Fortunately, Audi’s U.S. customers won’t have to deal with this head-scratching naming scheme—at least for the time being.
