I assume you're talking about the supercharger kit... I really don't need any more power out of the car, I'm simply trying to figure out why the throttle response changed so much in a day. After I get home from work I'll try resetting the ECU to see if that fixes things... then possibly clean the MAF.

Yeah, it is frustrating for sure. That's one of the side effects of high technology, I suppose.

The E36s don't seem to suffer from this as much.

I cleaned the MAF and reset the ECU last night and now it's back to normal... but I agree with EricSMG and ohnoes that sometimes the car will just accelerate really hard while other times it just wont.

Glad to hear you got the issue squared away!

And yep. Maybe one of the dealer techs can shed more light on the problem... that Siemens ECU is one complex beast, though. I wonder if the BMW engineers would even be able to explain the cause of the symptom, since it's affected by so many different variables.

Exactly my thoughts. There are just so many variables and sources of data that who the hell knows what the damn computer is actually doing at any given moment

Technology is great but it can make you feel helpless at times.

i still dont get it why would jacking up the car affect the maf/ecu though.

How do you guys reset the ECU?

I reset the ECU by unplugging the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes.

Jacking up the car wouldnt affect the maf/ecu... in my case I removed the the air filter, and in the process I removed the MAF plug and forgot to plug it back in before starting up the car.
