Exclamation DFW ///M Club SPECIAL EVENT March 8 - 9 Eagles Canyon Raceway

Thanks to vndkshn for the event suggestion:

PCA is sponsoring a DE event at Eagles Canyon Raceway March 8 - 9.

PCA link: http://mav.pca.org/Events/DE.asp
Eagles Canyon: http://www.eaglescanyon.com/php/welcome.php
Registration: (If you have not previously done so you will need to create a login ID to register) http://www.clubregistration.net/driv...TOKEN=28032632

Some of the more experienced track guys will (hopefully) chime in here and explain more about what is actually involved in the event. If you want to sign up for the full event I would suggest doing so ASAP. The DE events are very popular and sell out a few weeks in advance.

For those that are unable to attend the full event or unsure if this is really for them we will go ahead with our normal weekly event at Starbucks in Plano (Park Blvd & Tollway) at 9 am and then leave at 10 am and head out to Eagles Canyon to check out the track and learn more about the DE events. As an added bonus I am told there will an opportunity (for a small donation) to actually take your car onto the track for a parade lap (which means low speeds and no risk of damage to your car). If you have never driven on a track this sounds like a great opportunity to check it out.

We probably will not have time to stop for lunch and I am unsure whether Eagles Canyon has concessions available. I would suggest planning on packing lunch, snacks and drinks.

Regards,

Scott

The other benefit of signing up early (I think by the 23rd) is you get $40 or $45 off.

The last time I was there, there was not food onsite, but that could change by then. The closest food is around 10 miles away (in Decatur). The parade laps are just a fund raiser for a good cause and usually are 3 or so laps, at pretty slow speeds in comparison to what a hot lap is like. Figure you'll get to around 60 or so, maybe a little more on the straights. But it gives you an idea of what they are like. You might even be able to get a ride with an instructor if you have a helmet, I don't know.

Around lunch, most of us either get the food they offer (you have to pay in advance), run down to Decatur, or pack a lunch. Come hang out for an hour to two at least to get an idea of what the different run groups are like in terms of what to expect.

M5 guys... there are folks that track their M5. In fact, I can't remember the guy's name, but he is in his 70's iirc and has a nice CB E39 (he also has a beautiful Z8 I've seen him track in the past).

All the rookies, you don't have to do anything to your car except get it tech inspected. No race tires, no race brakes, no suspensions required (and for beginners, not recommended).

On the food front -- Eagle's Canyon DOES now have a food & drink concession. May not be gourmet dining, but it's at least as good as Subway!

wow, lookey who it is! the track queen herself. too posh for a Starbucks latte, but bring out the (track) chilidogs and a nice $200 pinot noir and she's all over it.

Lisa, is it that same thing they had before where you had to pay in the morning and they bring it at lunch? I think it was Jason's Deli iirc? Or do they actually have someone onsite now? I was wondering why they didn't just do like MSR and have a caterer come in, the guys MSR have recently switched to aren't bad.

They have a grill onsite and the burgers are pretty good.

Really the only thing required (other than the tech inspection) is a brake flush within prior 6 months of your track date.

I am looking forward to it. Does anyone know if they will have repaved the straights before & after T6 that needed repaving by then?

Dave, you hit the nail right on the head, ESPECIALLY now with the suspension. Now, are you referring to old T6, or new? I still think of the old 7 and 8 (the ones before the back straight) as 7 and 8, and entry into that with the new suspension almost scares me. I'm guessing you are referring to new T6, because the old (uphill right hander) seemed pretty smooth.

And March can't come soon enough....

New T6. Same corner as old 7-8. Downhill brake zone, then the following straight.

Yeah, that is an area that I was thinking of, the rest of the track seems pretty smooth.
