Is this true? I have a ZCP so no cruise control anyway....will it throw any dash lights not having it?

So with that said I live in the DMV (VA) area and am looking for a shop or some BMW gearheads that can help me convert my baby. My plan is to buy the parts then, with your help, find a shop or person/s who can do the conversion for the cost of labor or several cases of beer your choice

If anyone knows of a shop or person that will to the conversion for the cost of labor if I supply the parts please PM or email me!

Thanks in advance

There is an easy way to do it ... u can just use a RTD shifter with no mods to trans. As it has the gear select spring built into shifter. U donít even have to remove the trans.

You should probably at least retrofit the clutch sensor, but the gear sensor can be omitted. You'll have to do a minor DME edit to have such a setup.

It's worth doing even if you don't use cruise control, since the DME uses that information for a little more than cruise control.

that is my plan...do the clutch sensor but forget about the gear sensor

Did you swap yours with just the RTD shifter? I read the thread on e46f but there were some conflicting posts towards the end about the gates not lining up correctly without the lockout shifter. Seems like a no brainer if itís a straight swap.

Backup light switch is below and to the right of where you would put the gear identification switch, both SMG and 6MT have this switch, your connector should plug right up. The pic in post 577 of the tap shows the reverse switch.

The backup light/reverse switch is already in the tranny. What you tap in post 577 is the gear id switch on the smg tranny because originally it sits in the actuator in the back of the smg gearshift assembly, which you discard in the conversion.
