Default M3 axle bolts, stock are longer???

Hey any of you run into this one? So I stripped one of my E12 torx bolts when pulling my diff, so I ordered part number 33-21-1-227-664. Comparing the two, the bolts i pulled from the car are about 1/4" deeper, and the new ones have a deeper sleeve, so not quite as much thread-depth. This IS the correct part number from what i've researched (96 M3). I hope! I guess my question would be, even if different, should i just run it? I am a bit concerned with balance. I would really hate to buy all new bolts. Suckers are like 6 bux each.

The bolts are still taking their solvent bath, so I'll try and get pics up when i get them cleaned up.

Thanks.

Dan

M3 and 328i axles differ and the bolts also differ. You want the longer M3 bolts.

You may have the wrong bolt. This happens with BMW. Looks like yours is missing the locking teeth. The length is listed as 45mm on ECS. A mm difference isn’t unreasonable (yours also looks to be less than that).

The replacements DO have locking teeth, just not all that visible through the bag. I may have to take a trip down to the dealer. This is a buncha crap.
The bolts I pulled are 50mm, the replacements are 46mm.

What is the length on the new bolt?

BMW consolidates parts, usually superceeding older models with new model parts. Usually it is just a simple coating change (yellow zinc to ZNS3 zinc flake for example) but itís becoming more common for the parts to be completely different.
