the second video is where the car starts and die and both videos have seatbelt on and ebrake down. As of now i have changed to a new battery and alternator which was done today and video was recorded after. just order a brake light switch in hopes of it being that

I also went to an indy shop prior to a new alternator to get my car diagnosed and this is what i got.

M3 MSS54
Signal, brake light switch
CAN timeout with instrument cluster
DSC MK60
System Voltage is greater than 18 volts
CAN connection to instrument cluster
Steering angle sensor, internal
DDS button fault
Inst.Cluster-KOM-E46
Data connection to drive and running gear control modules (CAN bus)
Fault entry for internal fault in light module
Body bus (K-Bus)

--- This was before a reset. as soon as reset was done they plugged it back in and got this --

M3 MSS54
Signal, brake light switch
Inst.Cluster-KOM-E46
Fault entry for internal fault in light module
Body bus (K-Bus)

*** End of Update ***

hey guys, so today my car decided not to start. Please before you tell me to search and all that believe me i searched day and night for about a good 2 weeks.

It all started when i was at the track (1/4 mile). Car was running great out of the hole and through first and second gear, however once in 3rd and 4th i felt as if the car was in some kind of limp mode, Blamed the warm weather and called it a day. The next night i had a meet and coming home from this meet i took a hard left turn and all the lights on my dash went out (the back light - note it this was at night) i immediately pulled over and parked it. Next morning the car wouldnt start so i had to jump it, i took it to advance autoparts to see if i had a bad battery (alternator was replaced about a year and half ago), my battery i had a bad cell so i replaced it hoping it would fix this electrical nightmare. Car cranked up and drove but my lights still stayed on.

The following is the problems i can spot out (the lights/warning lights work intermittently which made me think i had a bad ground somewhere)
-E-Brake Light is on
-Temp Gauge stays at hot (until it works randomly for a second then flips out again)
-battery light
-Seatbelt light
-Blinkers blink on the outside but no notification of them blinking on dash
-no Back lighting to my dash
-sunroof doesnt work
-reverse tilt doesnt work.
-Time on cd player doesnt show up like normal
-RPM gauge sits at 0 while the speedometer works

The car started just fine today, i drove it to discount to fix a flat. as soon as i got home, i turned off the key but remembered to see what all was wrong so that i could post here, and car would crank and start but instantly die. i only tried to start it an additional 2 times and stopped in prevention of any unwanted damage to the car.

Please anyone with any knowledge about this that could chime in would be great and very much appreciated. Thanks guys in advance

it was cranking out 13.7 i believe on live batter test on full draw (ac all the way up and radio on)

I also forgot to mention when they tried to do a complete scan the reader said could not do it due to something with the circuit (another reason why i was thinking a bad ground)

others have had somewhat similar symptoms due to something in the tranny or diff fail sensor, but from what i read it would tell you the the name on the mini screen on the dashboard.

hmm I have never heard of this before. Is the crankshaft sensor working?

I know that my car had a problem starting and it turned out that the crankshaft sensor was bad. Although I find it hard to believe that just the crankshaft would cause so many problems.

Your best bet at this point might be to get it towed to an indy shop and let them run deeper diagnostic tests and check for codes.

i also forgot to mention my ac does not blow cool air ever since this happened, now i dont know if it was just coincidental or not.

No problem!

Keep us updated. I am curious to see what actually the problem is. Hopefully it won't be anything too serious or expensive.
