Since when is that low rent i sat in one with a black interior and it was pretty cool. With your comments I'm beginning to wonder why you bought it. You're underwhelmed by its handling and interior

Your sarcasm meter is broken. You don't think the material quality is on par with the BMW do you? Obviously some switchgear and other materials are taken from the GM parts bin.

Also any 4000lb car, no matter how awesome, will feel like a shitty handler when your last car was a 3300-3400lb :racecar:

Sarcasm, Rave.

The interior is great. There are some cheap bits here and there, but overall it's very nice. And the actual design and layout is gorgeous, in my opinion. I can only imagine what the V would be like if it had a pricetag to match the M5's.

Where have I ever said I'm underwhelmed with either the handling or interior?? Just because I offer a realistic viewpoint on things doesn't mean I'm underwhelmed.

I think you forgot some words there...

I agree though. There's no way I'd take a Cadillac anything over an M5. I've sat in both, there's a significant quality difference, though I have to say the new CTS-V has done pretty well... It is nice! Gotten away from the GM plastic bits. But when you sit in the 2012 M5 you can tell it's substantially better. There's really no contest there. CTS-V is not low rent, IMO, but it's not high end either. Sort of reminds me of a Lexus on the interior side.

From a performance perspective, I am sure they are somewhat close, I haven't driven either, sadly, so I can't really give an opinion. But I am confident in saying the BMW probably has a MUCH higher build quality. I don't think that's too much of a stretch considering where Cadillac is made.

Plus the CTS-V is not a good looking car at all to me... looks like a box. I've seen them drive around, never given them a second look. The M5.. damn. Saw my first one on the street last week (a nice silver one) and my god, that thing looks awesome driving. I've never been so tempted lol.

Anyway just my 2c.

No doubt the BMW M Division uses higher quality parts in their cars than GM does in the CTS-V. Having said that, I've never really understood the true "quality" discussion, because I guess how you look at it can differ.

I would take the GM components and longevity in the CTS Over the M5 any day of the week. Everyone knows not to own an E60 M5 out of warranty, almost all BMWs that I have known to go 75K or more in mileage and that are 5+ years old have issues. I would never equate any German car maker with quality other than the use of quality materials. All cars have issues, BMW has major issues all the time.

A $35k difference is huge, and everyone is right that a typical M5 byer would never cross shop a CTS-V. I think that is a good thing.
