Default Intake manifold

I purchased Stack electrical water/oil temp and oil pressure gauges to install and I have hit a sticking point with the intake manifold. It seems the Bimmerworld oil distribution/sending block I ordered mounts to the back of the oil filter housing which entails removing the airbox/manifold attached to the throttle bodies.

Anyone know of a DIY on removing the manifold? Here's a shot but I seem to be missing something simple because if feels like it's welded on.

Also curious about whether anyone mounts their oil temp sensor in a different spot? Have heard that between the pan and the oil cooler is the most accurate spot.

Thanks.

These two links will help you. I used those links when I removed mine during my supercharger installation. Warning, it's going to be a PITA.

Are you SMG or 6MT? If you are SMG its a bit more complicated of a removal as you will have to disconnect the SMG pump reservoir tube AND you have to be careful of the fluid as it will spill out of the reservoir from the top (the bottom seals shut when you remove the reservoir...

Removing the intake itself is fairly simple and strait forward, though I suggest you use a large set of needle nose pliars to remove boot clamps instead of [B] pliers, as they will likely fail during use.

AND make sure you have the boot clamps in place on the intake hoses BEFORE your reinstall the intake as it is a nightmare to try to add them afterwards...

Default Re: Temp/Pressure Gauge Install

I finally got around to getting 2/3 of the job done. Since the original post I ditched the idea of the oil distribution block in favor of a simpler solution. I found an oil filter cap at VAC with two holes tapped, one for pressure and the other for temp. I am only using the cap to get oil pressure as I opted for the Turner Motorsport oil pan flange to pull oil temps directly from the bottom (it actually goes up into the pan a little ways) of the oil pan.

Now I just need to find a good spot, the best spot for a race car, to pull water temps and I'll be all set.

Installation is pretty simple for the flange and as easy as unbolting the oil filter housing cap and bolting on the new one. Here's links if you're interested.

Did you ever get that water temp gauge installed?
