we can complain as much as we want about n/a vs. turbo but its not going to mean crap

porsche purists complained non stop about air cooled to water cooled. i don't see any complaints about the GT3 RS 4.0

bmw will evolve. turbos will eventually be accepted. if they make a mistake, like Audi did when they went from f/i to n/a and then back to f/i, they will return their cars to n/a. remember, if BMW wants to continue to race in ALMS and Grand Am - they will need to remain to the classing of the GT class - which was a 4.0L motor this year. so there will be an area for them to remain "competitive" & "enthusiast-based" with those motors.

BMW uses profits from their street cars to make race cars. Porsche and Ferrari use profits from race cars to produce street cars which eventually are used to fund their racing program.

there will always be that disconnect.
