I believe it is less abrasive but that means if you have nasty metal it likely will not work well. That's just another tool for a job at hand. For example on the head I had to blast it twice. Once with 100 grit and then again with 300. Soda is also one time use so it is more costly and makes a huge mess in a home shop where you use an outside corner of your property to blast (versus a sealed cabinet where glass media can be reused).
