I think you're over thinking this.



Take the rear subframe bolts out.



Find the center of the hole and drill up as plumb as possible.



Using a 1.5" hole saw with the same size pilot bit(if possible) as your pilot hole drill down in the trunk.



Drill out the last 1/4" of the hard point hole from the top or tap it for threads.

Do you know how far down the hard point holes are from the top of the trunk floor? Any specialty tools needed to tap to get down to the hard point? I've been reading the instructions more thoroughly and am starting to get an idea of the process a little more, but the devil is in the details...
