As a quick and dirty test, I took an ABS pump that I had on the bench and plugged it in under the hood (so it's not installed, but it is "installed" as far as the electronics are concerned).

When we measure the resistance at the ABS computer harness, we were still getting around 40 Ohms for each pin, compared to around 8 when measured at the pump itself. So both pumps have similar resistances.

I then started the car with the different pump "installed", and the ABS light was still illuminated.
