Well see them side by side and the difference is pretty obvious.

Re: BMW E36 M3 GT: The M3 Masterpieces Ep.2 | Carfection

Guess how you look at it. Some things are bad, depending on what year/material you car has.

But man, that sticky rubber coating the E46 and many of its peers use. That's just aweful.

Re: BMW E36 M3 GT: The M3 Masterpieces Ep.2 | Carfection

I shake my head every time I read this.

There are two ejecters/dampers on each side of the lid. These take all force. Or at least they should. They also limit travel of the bootlid (trunk).

There is no controller. It stops because it can’t mechanically move any further.

These clusters are coded/flashed in the factory to display in either KM or MLS. Why couldn't you this again?

The EEPROM inside the cluster is the only place mileage is stored.

Re: Would you buy a Euro E36 M3 as an enthusiast?

>80% could mean anything from 80-99% so not sure how to read that.

As 80% of 365 is 292, which is less then the 320nm the S50 makes between 2600-6200.

So if it’s true, >80% should be >88%.

Maybe he means the Euro has its max torque at a much lower rpm than the s54. While the absolute number of the s54, which is higher, but not by that much.

I don’t know the entire torque curve of...

Re: Hood/Bonnet opening mechanism questions

It works on cabrio’s as well.

The system is not as easy as sedans/touring. With the grubscrews removed, you can move the hood forward and access the scuttle panel’s corners. But when you lift the...

Interesting article. Should be noted that convertible a pillars are much stronger. Don’t know about all models, but (from) E36 this is reinforced as it needs to carry the weight in a rollover.

Theoretically you could hoop up only the second stage of the new airbag, but I would not advice that at all.

Just source the correct airbag.

You don't really get to appreciate the E36 until it's sold and the replacement car turned out to not be an E36.

Euro prices are all over the place over here. Most just hoping to make a good sale, but most are listed for months. Everybody thinks their 200.000+ km ‘project’ M3 is worth €20k+.

If you live in a very cold climate, you could fit a heated E38 steering wheel.

Two problems though.

1. It’s not the best looking wheel.
2. It’s huge. Larger then the stock 385mm E36 wheel.

You could also cut the sidewings off the frame and refit them with some hinging mechanism.

Thinking outside the box now.

Problem with this is that you won't know if you will pull in each wing simultaneously or one bending more than the other.

I think I would just put on an extra sweater.
