Butyl tape is waste of $7 tbh, that butyl stuff is super sticky I was able to re-use my old one just fine.

Likely threw a rod. Coolant mixed with oil (possibly from previous damage) and you spun a bearing at close to redline. If so, yes, this motor is toast.

Yes, $$ is not that much of an issue, its almost a wash at this point. He is ARP dealer (he does a lot of S65/S85 bearings), and said he has a set of S54 bolts for $140. I have ordered a set of OEM...

No, the water pump was definitely not the issue. In fact, I kept the old one as a spare, cause it was solid, no play in the bearings, impeller looked good.

Water pump gasket

I'm in the process of refreshing my cooling system, and after took the water pump off, I noticed it was sealed with steel gasket, but replacement gasket that came with my pump is a paper gasket.

Gotcha. I actually think thin coat of oil film on bearings a very plausible explanation. And I obviously have no idea about VANOS repair and increased iron correlation, so they could be right there...

This car was a mixed bag from the very beginning, with clear front corners and amber bumper reflectors. Having said that, I think amber corners up front look dated. Its more of a E36 look.

Viscosity is up because you had the engine open and all light fractions evaporated, making the oil thicker. So did the fuel. No problem there.
