I changed mine to Vorshlag Red. Very firm and did notice quite a lot of noise but it makes the car sound heaps better on throttle especially up high in the revs.
Total pain in the arse at idle....

If I remember correctly you turn your key in the opposite direction and it will open mechanically. Works on my e39 and I vaguely remember doing it on my car.

Looks awesome. I would look at going all the way and putting in a member from the rear subframe point up to the shock towers on each side. This will eliminate the flex that VinceSe2 is talking about.

I have replaced the hub with a cryo'd dr.vanos one in my car along with new filter, sealing plate and new bolts. My hub had a broken tab lodged in place (so scary) which I saw when doing a valve...

A lot of weight was removed in many areas. Roof ($), air con (comfort), seats ($) etc. etc. it all adds up and has great results. Weight is your main goal then performance. If you can live with-200kg...
