Re: Thinking about trading up to a e90 M3

If you want to be conservative, replace the rod bearings. It’s a $2000 shop job. At some point your throttle actuators will fail. They are $600 each plus a couple of hours labor. Otherwise the...

I would go up a grade from the stock spec. Maybe Mobil 1 0W40, or 5W40 or even 10W40. Or a similar weight Castrol. Frankly, any brand is fine. For hot weather or high mileage, I’d focus more on...

Re: M3 axle bolts, stock are longer???

I have an aftermarket driveshaft that uses Allen head bolts. They are more compact in the head area but I do find them easier to strip — it’s a high power turbo car so I have had to take the shaft...

It’s 22 year old car. I would replace the roughly 30 mounts, bushings, ball joints and links under the front and rear. ECS or FCP may sell packages at some savings. But shocks/struts/mounts and...

M3 and 328i axles differ and the bolts also differ. You want the longer M3 bolts.

Looks like a nice car, with very low mileage at 43k, and appears that be a decent turbo conversion. Would be hard to duplicate for $25k given the 43k mile M3 starting point.

Depends on where you live. All seasons are for year round use and not great in winter or summer. The best is probably Michelin pilot a/s. I run summer and winter wheels.

You mean the one with the link to the $700 alternator? I paid $200 for a rebuilt from California alternator and starter on eBay 10 years ago and it’s still going strong.
