Re: Rod bearing - preventive maintenance?

One of the things clouding the issue is that no one seems to know how to tell when LCI bearings are worn. They always come out discolored in a pattern that looks exactly like a wear pattern, so...

If "better" means higher Zn/P/Ca/Mg/whatever numbers on oil analysis, that'd be amusing for sure.

If "better" means actually better, you can be 100% sure that won't happen.

Decent being the key. It's good... for a car that has a live rear axle and a massive engine up front, and is tuned mainly for drag races.

The GT350 handles and brakes very well... period.

Re: 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Debuts with Flat-Crank V-8 and MagneRide Shocks

This is ultimately what it comes down to. You just have no idea how the result is going to look until you see the whole system. The GT-R is an excellent example, because holy crap could you fill a...

Re: 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Debuts with Flat-Crank V-8 and MagneRide Shocks

Pro tip: If you have to cite Ferrari and Mercedes AMG as your examples, "hardly impressive" probably isn't the right choice of words for what you're describing. ;)

Also, the 458 Italia uses...

Re: 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Debuts with Flat-Crank V-8 and MagneRide Shocks

Always love a question that unwittingly answers itself. :thumbsup2:

The bigger the engine, the more impressive a high redline is. If you think 8400 RPM from a 4L is impressive, you should be...

Re: 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Debuts with Flat-Crank V-8 and MagneRide Shocks

Minor correction: No such thing as a flat plane crank in anything but an I4 or a 90º V8.

Other than that, +1 on all points. I'd go even further: the whole point of an M car is supposed to be...

Re: New 2015 M4 or New 2015 GT350?

"The fact that it's not a Mustang" won't do it much good if the Mustang is a better car. That's a really big "if" considering the platform, but... just sayin'. ;)

Re: Obioban (Ian), is this your M3 in this picture?

I know for a fact that the owner of this Integra won't judge your car for its sub-8600 RPM redline, greater-than-2700 lb curb weight, and lack of a third pedal. Shame that the courtesy only flows...

Intermittent fuel smell from coolant expansion tank (ANDs and BUTs inside)

I'm also having:

1. A...

Doesn't a cracked oil pickup usually cause lifter tick? That's my impression based on what I'm reading. My lifters seem dead silent.

In terms of feel/excitement, ditto.

In terms of...

Re: Official BMW oil recommendation update?!

Pouring and pumping are two different things. Engines pump.

But yes, any decent 0w-40 is going to have much better cold viscometrics than any 10w-60.
