I too am interested is how Supersprint will be adapting 2.5" OD section 2 to meet section 3's. I can't imagine how it will fit unless they neck it down or fabricate some sort of adapter.

Re: Rear articulating perches - anybody used a Thrust Bearing

On my GC's, the upper mount above the spring is such a tight fit that if you were unload the spring base from the spring, the spring would stay suspended by the upper spring mount.

Re: 2400 lbs possible for an E46? (weight reduction)

Here is the list I am working on. Everything is pulled from RealOEM and converted to pounds. For some items (2x) the weight listed is for both items weighted together.

Re: 2400 lbs possible for an E46? (weight reduction)

I like the idea of running a complete E46 non-M rear end. When running the E46 non-M diff, is the drive shaft length the same too? Also a plus that the brakes bolt up, although, at the cost of losing...

Re: 2400 lbs possible for an E46? (weight reduction)

I thought about going with a 5 speed. I want to look at the overall weight savings between the 5 speed and the 6 speed when they are both running Tilton clutch setups.

What would it take to...

I'd be in if we can get another GB going. If not, I'm just going order one anyway :)

Brakes.

Anyone know of a solution that fits smaller brakes to the car to fit 16" wheels?

For a lightweight autocross car, smaller is still suitable. There is a wide selection of 16" racing...

Re: 2400 lbs possible for an E46? (weight reduction)

That's good to hear. Gutting the doors is definitely going to be needed to get to that weight.

That's a great quote. I'll likely remember that one.

Can anyone comment on how much gutting the doors would save and how much removing the sound tile from the chassis would save?

I wonder how much weight you can drop by gutting the doors and adding lexan windows? Carbon doors are allowed except $$$.

HVAC removal would be a must. The radio and components have already be...

2400 lbs possible for an E46? (weight reduction)

Does anyone think 2400 - 2500 pounds is possible for an e46 M3?

I'm considering prepping the car for SCCA autocross Prepared class.

All weight reduction is on the table.

No cage.
No...

Great post! I plan to trailer my M3 next year and will be referring back to this thread.

Have any recommendations for open deck trailers?

Re: Sound Limit Question

Since we have compiled some data here, I'll add a few:

OEM headers, CPI sec. 1, BW street/track ~93db @ 50ft.
SS V1 headers, SS sec. 1, SS sec. 2 no resonator, OEM sec. 3 ~88db @ 50ft.

Sounds good so far. Holding out for the louder of the two options hoping it will be lighter than 35 pounds.

Re: Help me bring a new exhaust to market

I would be most interested in any setup that is 2.5" or 3.5" from section 2 through section 3 and is lightweight and sub 95db with headers.

Re: G-Loc Brakes Group Buy

That's interesting and not surprising as the description of the compounds between the two companies is worded very similarly.

Re: G-Loc Brakes Group Buy

I've never heard of G-Loc, but after reading about their compounds, it looks like they have 1 or 2 good autocross compounds that would work for me. My Carbotech AX6's are getting thin!
