Tbh, I've had 3 E39 530is. I could never drive an E46. The e36 build quality feels like a suzuki compared to an E39. An e46 styling is not appealing at all.

Doing it today. Ordered a headgasket and head bolts last night. My guess is the head gasket. But my friend thinks its the bolts but I'll find out soon

Yeah, OEM bolts. Like after ur first start up you have to go check all the bolts again.

I am sure they aren't crushed. Doing this job my first time I think the head gasket wasn't seated properly....

Retainer's alone are like $300. The guy who blew it up is going to cover labor and machinist's charge. I'm paying for parts.
