Re: DIY Vanos Pump Disc

You can mill the holes, don't need to drill at all.

I have a CNC and still opted to buy it from Raj. Just not worth messing up that piece. Plus he's a good guy that does a lot to help this...

Re: anyone running Amsoil MTF?

Thought I'd bump this thread since I was just discussing it with a friend.

I put around 50,000 miles on the Amsoil MTF and just changed it about 1,000 miles ago. The shifting was perfect for all...

Re: Vanos splined shaft installation

You have to be really careful to make sure you put it back the same way, making sure to account for the backlash in the splines.

Raj's method is best if you didn't know the exact starting position.

I have 18x8.5 et38 fronts with 245's and think they look good. Didn't require modifying anything. They're nothing crazy but better than stock.

Re: $8000 for rod bearings and VANOS replacement?

I mean that's a lot of work to be done. The parts are priced high, but I'd expect a few grand in labor easily.

Re: Power steering rack leak

My power steering line has had a small leak for over 30k miles. The hose is wet and there are a few drops beneath it. It's not a real concern.

The torn boot should be addressed very soon though.

Re: HELP! My s54 is making a scary noise.

That is the very distinct sound of a ball bearing. The noise you hear is the resonance of the balls and cage and races vibrating. Check your alternator, a/c compressor, idler, etc.

Re: Vanos Bolt Stripped

There's a couple things I would try...

1. Remove the dowel and do a helicoil. Reinstall the dowel.

2. See how much material there is, and possibly drill the hole deeper and use a longer screw....

Re: What's the deal with power pulleys?

Ya most of those claims are extremely optimistic. You might see small gains at high RPMs and negligible gains in the mid-range.
