Tip for anyone who attempts the glovebox: it is better to have slender spring clamps (like the red one in the photo) because it will be...

Re: What kind of glue to use on glove box door?

How much did you apply and how long did you wait with spring clamps? Did you apply silicon in the same pattern as that of an OEM?

Door panel and glovebox refresh

Gonna try refreshing glovebox and door panel with suede (passender side near handle only) but I don't know how to remove just the inside part of the door trim. Has anyone got any idea?

Re: Sorry boys... this is another "which exhaust??" thread. Please help me anyway...

Supersprint race is the best option IMO. Rev it to high rpm and the sound is sooo good.

In Japan, saclam race exhaust is also famous.

Re: Testdrove smg and MT

I get to have the 100th post as OP :)

I'm one step away from getting an SMG; seems like a perfect daily as long as you don't mess with suspension and get the reinforcements done right.

Re: Clutch/Flywheel replacement questions

Just a few more tips: Always disconnect your fan shroud because you will be tilting the back of the engine when you
1. remove the transmission mount (which will need to be supported by a jack)
2....

Re: Clutch/Flywheel replacement questions

Rear main seal isn't difficult to replace, just loosen 8 bolts (6 on the cover, 2 on the bottom) around the rear crank and simply pull out the used seal and replace. It will definitely fail if it was...

Re: Need pics of rod bearing stuff on oil filter

Right on top of the oil filter cap. It does seem to create cavitation under load.

Re: Clutch/Flywheel replacement questions

I had a blown rear crank seal which constantly leaked engine oil to the transmission (and down to the oil pan). This in time will glaze your clutch as well, so it is a must to replace once you are in...

Re: What's your daily?

Well, seeing that VW faked their emission by reducing power output, I wouldn't be surprised if they made much more power with proper ECU tune.

Re: Car stalls ransomly when coming to a light...

Oil separator is a major suspect; was the case for my engine.

It could also stall due to a bad fuel pump relay (mine was burnt out)

Re: Car stalls, low beam failure OBC but no problem?

After some digging, my car does have oil in the throttle body which means that oil separator is due for change. I believe this is the main cause for intermittent misfire/random stalling on stop....

Re: What tranny fluid do you use?

It has to do with rattle. As for synchros, it only happens briefly on shifts... so I do not know if it would be met with catastrophic failure with slightly thicker oil.

Re: What tranny fluid do you use?

MTL might just be the right viscosity for my tranny as it has ltw flywheel on it. I do have spare BMW tranny fluids so if I don't like the redline, I will simply flush it and replace.

Re: What tranny fluid do you use?

My understanding is that MTL oils are thicker and shear less; also means that cold lubrication is not as effective as the lighter ATFs.

I'm wondering why the tranny had an orange ATF sticker on it...

Testdrove smg and MT

Typically an E36 guy, but couldn't resist how these two differed in terms of throttle response.

To my surprise, smg one seems to have slower throttle response even in sports mode compared to MT....
