Re: Sourcing parts from wrecks/junkyards

First thing I'd do is look at their options and shipping on ebay.
Depending on what they have and buying options, maybe call them up with an offer and mention no prep/packing/shipping.
Second thing...

Re: Please don't tell me I need a new transmission or SMG pump... (vid inside)

If you get no codes by a bmw specific reader/inpa, I'd expect something mechanical from the clutch or slave, since you're pump is running. TOB, pivot pin, etc.

Re: M3 SMG pump reconditioning

Cooling / heat isolation has been tried several years ago. Like I've commented on relocation, it is pointless if you already have a problem, like dropping out of gear or some of the on-time error...

There was, hopefully is, a member on here selling a superior custom-made replacement that should never leak, not much higher than OE cost best I can recall. Check the FS forum.

Interesting.

Not due to anything in normal SMG operations. Car should start, just not go into gear.

No alarm expert, but supposing it checks the trunk, one of the more common wire harness wear points is where it goes into the trunk, may be worth a check.

Most of you are doing swaps over a $500-1000 repair, $300 for rebuilt dc motor, $200 to swap it out, up to twice that ($1000 total) for new motor, more expensive labor. That's ok, but there's no way...
