You can smoke the exhaust system, I believe, and determine any leaks. Might be a quick way to eliminate possible causes.

Yup, seems like a failing oil temp sensor as you anticipated.

If you're going to reuse oil, ensure new/clean containers, cover oil once collected to avoid contaminants. Maybe shorten next oil...

I wouldn't risk it.

My oil temp gauge has been going up and down for some time, especially in colder climates. I don't remember it doing it before, but it's been so long like this, so who knows.

I did get the SRS code read (BIG THANKS TO CHRIS)... peake code 50 supply voltage. Single code... nothing else... couldn't be erased. After peake read the code when trying to erase gave "E" error....
