Re: End to all speculation: The CSL Kingpin

I may have misunderstood how you're taking your measurements. I thought you were measuring the angle of the strut to the piece of wood. This would be incorrect. Are you saying you're measuring the...

Re: End to all speculation: The CSL Kingpin

There's too much wrong with that set up if you're trying to measure strut to spindle angle.

For starters, the bottom tie rod and LCA holes are not coplanar. The tie rod surface is slightly(like...

Re: End to all speculation: The CSL Kingpin

You won't be able to tell 1 degree visually. I actually measured it.

And no, you wouldn't be able to tell a difference in the hole location visually either. The hole depth is about 45mm. A 1...

Re: Streamline & Dr M3an M3's CSL Airbox Development Journal Collaboration

Looking at it closer, I guess it would be more accurate to say between #4 and #5. Here's a picture to make it easier. Red circle is what I suggest. There are already some hoses and wiring in that...

Re: Streamline & Dr M3an M3's CSL Airbox Development Journal Collaboration

Natural convection("heat rises") is a very weak form of heat transfer, and it's totally overshadowed by the airflow you have through the engine bay, so it definitely will not have any impact because...

Re: Streamline & Dr M3an M3's CSL Airbox Development Journal Collaboration

A few people requested a different location from OE a long time ago. My last understanding was that it would be on the bottom behind the "closed flap" intake hole. Not sure why it moved to the top. ...

Re: Breakthrough discovery about the Spal 30102082 Fan! The Most powerful sealed fan

I'm with Obioban on this. Small weight reductions add up.

And as he mentioned, the Spal replaced the aux and clutched fans. So you save whatever the weight of the mechanical fan and fan clutch is...

Re: Breakthrough discovery about the Spal 30102082 Fan! The Most powerful sealed fan

SPAL 2082 is 2.84 kg per the specs on their website.

Which SPAL fan do you have? If it's the 2049, that one does 0 CFM at 25mmh2o. The radiator is somewhere between 12.5 and 25 mmh2o depending if...

Re: Breakthrough discovery about the Spal 30102082 Fan! The Most powerful sealed fan

Nah, even standing still the 2082 will outperform the 2049 once mounted to a radiator. 0mmh2o is without anything in the way. Adding a radiator in front adds some restriction to air flow. One of the...

Re: Breakthrough discovery about the Spal 30102082 Fan! The Most powerful sealed fan

His statement regarding static pressure is closer to correct. The static pressure (drop) is generated by the restriction caused by the radiator, not by air hitting the fan blades afterwards.

When...

Re: Streamline bumper thrown in the trash , OE one now fitted.

You're giving BMW way too much credit. The CSL box was designed back in like 2001. Take it from a hydraulics engineer, CFD simulation wasn't very good, user friendly or wide spread back then. It's...
