Re: The Official E46 M3 Oil Analysis Results Thread

The best advice you're going to get is to change your rod bearings.

At 100k w/ track miles you're well into the zone where you're not prematurely changing them.

Re: 5w-50 redline.

If you look at UOA's you'll find that nearly if not all the 60 weight oils shear down to a 50 weight by the end of their life cycle. You should do some research and see what the 5w-50 shears down to.

Not sure why dust is such an issue. My wheels and car get dirty at the same rate so I just wash everything at once.

Out of all the factors for brake pads, dust is the least important for me.

BMW loves assymetrical designs. Take the CSL front bumper for example, BMW S 1000 RR headlights, and the BMW ConnectedDrive Concept.

It appears to me like you're more of a Mercedes fan.

Re: E9X Platform

I've honestly been contemplating lately making the lateral move to the e9X platform. I wouldn't even mind the dct. I think I'd prefer it tbh. Dct has better gearing and would be amazing on the track.

Check how much power each one uses at max interval and then compare with the fuse rating

I still donít think I ever saw head-to-head dyno comparisons of ss headers and arh headers. By that I mean same dyno, mods, etc. So if anyone has spare headers of each Iíll volunteer as tribute :D

Re: Suggestions and price for the big 3

OP, I recommend you don't focus too much on price if you're not worried about spending and focus on the shops credibility. It's better to spend the extra $$ for the peace of mind and credibility.

What part of socal? Kaiv is deep South socal but very reputable. I'm actually up for an adjustment myself, but I just do it myself.

"You should definitely spend the extra money on OE hoses in lieu of OEM." Said, no one ever.

Except the Service Advisor at your local BMW dealership.

Re: V8 swapped E46 M3's

Yes, but that's before the S65 has any bolt-ons installed. S65 with bolt-ons can easily make ~390 whp to the wheels. With really good ones putting down well over 400 whp.

Hmm, that would suck if it was the fluid. Well for everyone else I mean. Ravenol was supposed be an oem replacement.
