Re: Premature Starter death - preventative measures?

Right, engine heat should not be an issue on an I6 with the starter under the intake manifold and the exhaust on the other side of the block. I think engine heat has been an issue for starters on...

Re: Premature Starter death - preventative measures?

By flex plate I meant the metal seal between the bell housing and block. Though I doubt that got bent or misaligned enough to cause an issue.

Re: Upgrading E36 M3 to a BBK this month, what brand and model can you recommend for

The OP has never tracked his car so the brakes would be mostly for looks. AP does have a very good reputation in the US. They are also more expensive than the StopTechs the OP was considering.

N54 is nowhere near as strong as the 2JZ. Open deck, high compression, designed for direct injection. Plus it would not draw viewers from Toyota fans.

The marketing/commercial benefit they get from appealing to Toyota and BMW owners probably outweighs any savings that might exist from using the S54 instead of the 2JZ.

Re: Upgrading E36 M3 to a BBK this month, what brand and model can you recommend for

One can also use a programmable PWM controller with a head mounted sensor for variable speed operation. It won’t tie into the speed of the car to turn the fan off at highway speeds but if the...

H6 is stock size. I use H5. It works fine even for year round driving in NH, and weighs 32lbs. H is for AGM.

My vote is also a sending unit in the tank. Don’t know which side is your issue. There may be a way to measure resistance to compare function. After 20 years, one should not be surprised.

The E34M5 pressure plate is deeper, which probably means a different flywheel is required. I think you could still use the E34M5 clutch disk with E36M3 pressure plate and any single mass flywheel. ...
