You don't mention if the cooling system has been serviced. If it hasn't you should. Sounds like a pulley or rotating accessory to me. Like haus said, remove belt and also spin everything by hand.

The file edit is copied from the tiny ads instructions and I definitely had to change that line.

Inpa just requires fewer moving parts so it's easier to get working.

Can't hurt to service and test vanos anyway. My car had had the seal done and the timing was slightly off so it ran a bit better afterwards.

Also, injectors? Bad injector could maybe cause O2...

Have you scanned for codes? My case was different BUT I learned if the dme thinks vanos isn't working it will set the cam angle at 90 degrees or so and engine will suck a lot. Inpa is invaluable here...

Okay not exactly the 325 side mirrors, but not cool side mirrors with double stalks.

E46 has a sort of blah look to it. Now a nice color with dished cross spoke wheels looks very good.

There have been interesting points on both sides here. E46 has the engine and tire width...

Oh then get the little butane soldering iron. They get pretty hot but for that wire it will be so fast it's nbd. Heat up the iron and wipe it with wet sponge, put aome solder on the iron and wipe it...

Edit - NVM! Woot! Recoded it back to the auto coding and it seems to resolve all the issues just like that. Really didn't think that would make a difference because it's documented in the Official...

I just left it unlocked. I don't totally follow the part about "lock down on off"

On a different note, hooked to inpa and it shows the cam angle as 83.9 all the time, idle, 3k rpm, all the time...

Checked vanos piston, it's free as can be. I had a lot of oil from the line the first time I took it apart, I remember because the oil immediately dripped...

Uuc is known for quality issues. Some of their stuff is okay but we had a car that had one of their shift carriers that had comically disintegrated.

Well the vanos is mechanically fine. It looks like it's not getting oil for some reason. Hooked the air to it and the travel is perfect. I noticed when taking it apart that not much oil came out this...

Cleared codes. Coolant temp sensor was reading 96 F after hours of sitting, and intake air was what looked like normal temp. After running coolant temp was spot on so I don't think that's the issue....

Okay thanks. I did test it with air when the engine was assembled. I think you get that code when the oil comes out and has to be pumped up again. It said the code was not present so I will see once...

Swapped my cam position sensor in and power is restored! Car moves out just fine now!

Hot start issue remains so not related. Gonna clear codes and scan again tomorrow. Still don't think fuel pump...

Well this is annoying. Decided the timing was the probable issue so I took it all apart and redid it very carefully. Maybe made a tiny difference but all the issues remain. Tried my coupe fuel relay...

It's just passed 500 miles. Yes strangely it seems like it pulled fine at first but I was taking it easy so it wasn't as obvious.

I may pull the valve cover in the am and check timing. I did that...
