Squeaky belt/pulley/tensioner - help diagnose

Idler pulley is actually #14, it can be identified in the image by the off-center fastener hole.
The tensioner pulley #6 has the attach fastener hole on center.

The bearings #5 on the pivot shaft...

Carbon fiber drive shaft (SMG)

The SMG and 6-Speed manual are the same gearbox, shafts should be / are the same.
An SMG can be converted to 6-Speed manual.

Another good choice might be Dinan springs on Koni’s or H&R OE Sports ( requires 1995M3 ‘hats’) on Bilstein’s.
Slight drop from stock and ride is not too firm.

Probably don’t really want to run ‘Poly’ RTABs, as the on rotation in multiple planes that ‘Poly’ cannot accommodate. The places stress on the body spot welded nut-serts.

Check battery voltage, likely your battery is marginal. Check fluid level and top up with distilled water. Let it sit on low amperage charger for a couple of days.

1996+M3 was the fastest car in the 60 foot slalom and has the fastest 60-to-80 time of production car at the time. Even has a faster 0 - 60 time than euro cars of that era.

1995M3 245/40-17 (street tires) on 8.5” ET41 up front, close but no spacer.

245/45-17 is too tall for E36 and messes with gearing/speedo.

On a 1996+M3 you will get rubbing/interference on the strut casing, do to geometry revisions on the Spindle...

You can buy a rebuild kit for ZF M3 pump, p/n 32411135880.
Your pump however, is beyond a rebuild but you won’t really know until you take it apart. The pump shaft runs in the housing, no bearing....

Cylinder 1 is closest to radiator, cylinder 6 is closest to cowl/firewall.

WTB: S52 Head

I believe M50 is a different casting, however a ‘400’ casting head with fit an M50.

M52 and S52 “400” (1738400) casting based machine part is drilled and tapped for one Cylinder Head temperature...

I would not rule out Koni based Ground Control or TCKline.

To the best of my knowledge both TCK and GC procure externally adjustable specially valved dampers from Koni.

One of the benefits of GC is that they produce a CO casing for the M3 Koni adjustable...

I think you are referring to Koni’s. For the M3, this requires what is referred to as a ‘cut-n-gut’. Requires removing the internals of the ‘factory’ strut and inserting the Koni damper cartridge....

I’m fairly certain the 1996+M3 Centered FLCA Bushings contain more rubber, almost solid when compared to the E30 FLCABushings.

Additionally, a few folks have simply replaced the FLCA Ball Joints...

The standard E36 BMW/Lemforder RSMs are suspect, the E46M3/Convertible are an NVH-free improvement over the E30/E36 RSM.

Depending on mileage - Front upper Guide Supports/Bearing Plates/Strut Mounts may or may not need to be replaced. Often they can be cleaned, greased and reused.
