The problem is the speed sensor attached to the diff. Easy replacement. If, when you pull it out, part of it is broken off and missing, don't worry about it.

How long did it take you to get to 5 mm? They started at 14 mm, so you can do the math, and use nothing less than 2 mm as your minimum.
