Can you link to a compatible replacement disc? I'm not really finding anything that's 356x28 readily available.

Re: Brembo Caliper/AP Racing Style Disc Kit -- Group-Buy Interest Thread

If the brake pistons are all equal (which is what it looks like to my eye, but perhaps it's not), then they're 40mm, assuming the total area is the same as AP's 6 pot calipers as stated.

I don't. But I guess my bigger point is that an E46 with > 50k miles likely has some cracks already starting. Most people, including shops that do PPIs, don't inspect it very thoroughly.

Unless you get a low mile E46, you'll likely need a solution beyond the foam. And the foam doesn't do much to address the front points which are also known to crack.

Re: Help on engine temps?

M3 gauge is actually buffered from about 85C to 95C, but the engine's setpoint is more like 83C, which is why it swings around a bit. (Non-M has a massive buffer from 75C to 115C)

Re: DIY Vanos Pump Disc

Cams spin at half the speed of the crank.

Also, the VANOS is continuously working, it doesn't "kick in". It will be set based on engine load and RPM.

Just have the sensors installed next time you're getting your tires changed? If you want it to interface with the car's electronics too that's tougher, but it shouldn't interfere with the ABS-based...

It'll only ever spin up to 4k RPM and camshafts are inherently out of balance anyway

Yeah, this really confused me at first. Still sometimes gets me since afferent/efferent are kind of burned into my mind.

Re: S54 Oil Chain Slap (against oil pump) - Is there a fix?

That nut's never come loose on an S54. Only seems to be the S52 and M54b30 that has that issue (incidentally, those two motors share the same crank, so there's probably some odd harmonics there)....

Then don't part with it. (And you wouldn't even get anything close to $25-30 on an 02 with >100k miles and a swapped interior).

Re: Best sway bars?

Hotchkis probably is stiffer at all settings. If you want a milder OE-like ride, CSL bars are probably the better bet.

Re: Pre-facelift vs Facelift Cars

You can also just code it for M-track and set "DTC_LAMPE" to nicht_aktiv. This will make it like non-Ms where a short press illuminates the DSC light and a long press illuminates the DSC and BRAKE...

Re: CSL Map Sensor Alternative

Man, that's got to be the worst OE solution I've seen in a long time. They must have let an intern deal with this.

There isn't a new air rail part number, is there?

Re: American racing headers Results

In fairness, most of our data comes from dyno data, and I rarely see dynos start below 3500 RPM. If the flap improved anything (I don't htink it does), I'd expect it to be the sub 2500 range.

Exception would be right hand drive cars (it's still identifiable, but both will have the DSC modules on that side in RHD countries)

Re: Mssflasher

I think MSSMapper was designed to verify a license after X amount of time. If you start the program and the "slow" checkbox isn't grayed out, your license is still good.

It should. Easiest way to check is to look in the drug bin. If it's empty, you have an MK60

Re: M4 Brakes on E46 M3?

I mean I still want something larger and thicker than the 328x20mm rotors. Right now most of the solution either leave a small rust ring, have non-functional parking brakes, or both.
