Re: No more Castrol TWS 10w60?...

Oreilly's carries the castrol 10w60. Most of the time they have to get it from the back, I have had to argue with them a couple times, after denying that they carry it, I get them to check to...

Yes, I have used it on all the CSBs Ive done, mine originally did not have it, putting it in quieted a lot of noise.

Re: E46 M3 Timing Chain Tensioner (DIY?)- oil leaking- part $225?

Yes, that will work, I think that is the one I have, autozone has one also if I remember correctly. Dealer should have crush washer.

Re: E46 M3 Timing Chain Tensioner (DIY?)- oil leaking- part $225?

They come loose, it should just be the crush washer, it has oil pressure applied right below the washer so a leak there can be pretty severe. I use this in the socket and a wrench:...

Misunderstood, I Don't think you will find that one, if it is bad, might be best to get a bell housing from someone, easy to swap.

I skipped hooking up the dimming function on the V4s and I like the brightness, I thought I would need to tone it down but now I don't think so, they look good day or night.

Re: Shifter rebuild/refresh w/ DSSR - is this the right "shifter rod joint"?

Refreshing those parts will make a big difference. The F10 shift knob is also a big upgrade, the precision of the SSKs is well worth it but definitely pricey.

Re: Shifter rebuild/refresh w/ DSSR - is this the right "shifter rod joint"?

Re: Shifter rebuild/refresh w/ DSSR - is this the right "shifter rod joint"?

The rod joint is good part to refresh, including the yellow sponge inside. The difference in them is the width of the plastic lining the hole, in the later cars, some plastic (Delrin?) protrudes on...

Re: Manual Transmission - Lost Gears 5 & 6

Yikes that sounds like a pretty big leak, maybe the output seal isn't perfectly straight? I don't think the shifter shaft seal could leak that much but it might be possible. Sorry to hear its leaking.

Re: VANOS Rebuild Question (yay, another one)

I think most are referring to the Timing chain tensioner guide, they are almost all broken by 100K, mine was cracked and ready to separate at 105K, at 177K your is probably in pretty bad shape.

Re: Anyone know what SSK this is?

Looks like a UUC EVO3 to me. I had one, swapped it for a auto solutions. It is a good shifter, you can rebuild it for 35 dollars with a kit from UUC.

Re: RMS leak?

Also, check to make sure the exhaust cam position sensor is dry, it could drip right down in that area if the o-ring is bad.
