No. The BW instructions are simple. Splice their "green" wire to the power wire on the supplied harness to the power wire on the pump. Ground wire to ground wire. I'll double check my kill switch...

I may have screwed up with the locking ring. I've never encountered that with my p cars. And I removed it before installing the plate. There were no instructions with the plate. Obviously a big error...

I agree should be the upper hose. Same with oil temps. You want the reading before the cooler as a predictor of upcoming doom.
