I would guess that is a rust inhibitor, and that is should be removed prior to installation.

I took my removed headliner + Sunroof panel to an upholstery shop and had it covered professionally for less than $200. I think the majority of the labor is removing the headliner...

If you don't want to pull the engine quite yet, you can pull the oil pan and do a visual of the bottom end. Maybe a bearing seized?

The OEM brake ducts go above the underpanel.

The Motion piece is very high quality. I actually rode without an underpanel for years, but finally opted for the Motion with the radiator...

Redline D4 ATF here. Also have used redline MTL.

The D4 ATF is nice because I can use one fluid for tranny and power steering pump. Less waste...
